Diarmuid qualified as a solicitor in 1976 and founded the firm of DP Barry Solicitors in 1978. Diarmuid is an Accredited Mediator by Mediation Forum Ireland, is a Notary Public and a Member of the Irish Maritime Association.

Diarmuid has extensive experience in all aspects of Maritime Law (It's rumoured that he acted for Noah when he purchased the Ark!), Personal Injury Law, Medical Negligence and Commercial disputes.
